A marvellous Jaeger-LeCoultre Futurematic in a yellow gold filled casing, powered by an automatic movement.
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Futurematic was first introduced in the 1950s and was known for its innovative automatic movement. Unlike most automatic watches of the time, which could only be manually wound or had a manual winding option, the Futurematic featured a full automatic winding system. It was equipped with a bumper-style automatic movement that wound the watch through the motion of the wearer's wrist.
The Futurematic has a distinctive design with a power reserve indicator located on the dial, allowing the wearer to monitor the watch's remaining power reserve. It was also characterized by a clean and minimalist dial layout, often featuring applied hour markers and dauphine hands.
The distinctive feature of this watch is its lack of crown, initially anyway. The crown is on the caseback; sliding the crown from left to right works in the same way as pulling out the crown on a standard watch, allowing you to change the time and then lock it back and run the watch from the correct time.
