Here we have an absolutely stunning example of a Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox Wrist Alarm, for me this one has simply got one of the most beautiful lug designs out there.
The Memovox was a huge hit for JLC in the US market. Its wearers have included such celebrities as actor and film director Charlie Chaplin. This one has "Wrist Alarm" on the dial rather than "Memovox." The time and alarm function were separated by constructing two separate barrels which ensured that the power reserve of the clock was not reduced by triggering the alarm function. As a result, Memovox watches had two crowns for winding.
The condition of this piece overall is good but there are clear signs of wear throughout, this is a watch that has been worn rather than kept in its box, and it is in its full original condition. Please do not hesitate to message me requesting videos or further photographs!
This watch is 10k gold filled - rather than gold plated. Gold-filled jewelry has 100x more gold alloy than gold plated and because that layer is so much thicker, it means gold-filled jewelry lasts longer and stands up to wear and tear better than gold plated.
This watch is keeping time well and the alarm is working!
I have put this watch on a brand new genuine crocodile strap with a high shine finish - complimenting the piece to look extremely elegant.
