An intricately carved Mediterranean coral necklace, likely 19th century, depicting a central bust of Dionysus, the god of wine and ecstasy, flanked by dual faces possibly representing Zeus, his divine father. Surrounded by putti and nymphs, the necklace weaves a rich narrative of divine birth, joy, and ritual celebration. Interspersed with gilded bows, the piece reflects the Neoclassical revival and Grand Tour era fascination with mythology and craftsmanship, rendered in precious marine coral and gilt fittings.
